About Me

Josh blount, bladesmith

Confession: it’s spelled “Blount,” but it’s pronounced “Blunt” – so yes, you’re on the website for “Blunt knives.” As a friend likes to say, Blount knives – for the truly sharp customer.

Despite such an inauspicious last name for someone entering the world of cutlery, I began making knives when I was 14, and continued studying bladesmithing throughout my teenage years. I joined the American Bladesmith Society (ABS) and was blessed with the opportunity to learn from Larry Harley of Lonesome Pine Knives and other ABS affiliated smiths of the Virginia and Tennessee area. I also attended the ABS Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing for a Handles & Guards course.

Then, during my college years, a variety of circumstances required me to put my shop in storage. Years passed, I became a pastor of a wonderful church in West Virginia, married, and had three children. In the spring of 2021 after moving into a new home, I was finally able to set up a shop, rejoin the ABS, and begin pursuing the art of bladesmithing again. Since then I have had the joy of the sharing the this craft with friends as well as my son Elliot, whose very first knife is pictured here. We hope one day, Lord willing, to form a father-son bladesmithing team! Thanks for your interest in our shop. Please check out our currently available pieces, our gallery of past work, and reach out to us if we can be of any assistance! We would love to make you the proud owner of a Blount Knife.
